BBAU to hold convocation after gap of three years; VP likely to be chief guest
Lucknow: After a gap of about three years, the convocation ceremony of Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) will be held this year. The convocation ceremony was last held in 2023.BBAU has sent an invite to vice-president CP Radhakrishnan to be the chief guest on the occasion. According to vice-chancellor Prof RK Mittal, as soon as the request is accepted by the vice-president, the university will announce the convocation date. This will be the 11th convocation of the university in which over 6,000 students will be conferred degrees. The students of the batches 2023, 2024 and 2025 will be awarded degrees and over 250 gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded on the occasion. "We have already declared the convocation degree and medal list of PhD scholars and students of certificate, diploma, PG diploma, UG, PG, integrated programmes and MPhil of all three years, who are eligible for the award of degree in the upcoming convocation," said Prof Mittal. According to university officials, the ceremony could not be held for the last three years due to the absence of a permanent vice-chancellor. The post of BBAU's full-time vice-chancellor was vacant after former VC Prof Sanjay Singh's five-year term ended in 2024, whereupon BBAU professor Prof NMP Verma from the economics department was appointed as officiating/acting VC based on seniority. After his retirement, Prof SK Dwivedi from environmental sciences was designated as the officiating VC. It was only last year in March when Prof RK Mittal was appointed as the permanent VC of the university.
